If you see the “The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator” error in Windows 11, likely, your user account doesn’t have the necessary permissions to access the Command Prompt. Here’s how to fix it:-

Step 1. First, open Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2. Next, in the left pane of the Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following folder:-

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System

Step 3. Then, in the right pane, locate the “Prevent access to the command prompt” policy setting and double-click it.

Step 4. After that, select “Disabled” and click “OK” to enable the Command Prompt.

That’s it. Close the Local Group Policy Editor and restart your computer to apply the changes.

After completing these steps, you can open the Command Prompt without encountering the “The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator” error.

If you’re using Windows 11 Home edition, you may not have access to the Local Group Policy Editor. In that case, you can edit the Registry to enable the Command Prompt. Here’s how:-

Step 1. First, open Registry Editor.

Step 2. Then, in the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System

Step 3. Next, locate the “DisableCMD” REG_DWORD on the right pane and double-click it.

Step 4. Here, set the “Value data” to “0” and click “OK” to enable the Command Prompt.

That’s it. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer to apply the changes.

After completing these steps, you can open the Command Prompt without encountering the “The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator” error.
