How to Disable App Diagnostics in Windows 11?

If you are using Windows 11, you should note that  App Diagnostic is a feature in Windows Operating System that gathers information from the running other applications on your system. Microsoft’s intention behind this information is to improve the overall stability of those applications. But, still, most of us will not be happy with this feature of Windows 11 and see this as a privacy issue. Most Windows users want to turn off App Diagnostics in Windows 11. If you are curious to know which information Microsoft stores, then please note down these:-

  • Name of the app.
  • Name of the app’s package.
  • Username of the app.
  • Memory used by the app.
  • Other processes of the app.

If you are those Windows 11 users who don’t want to share any information with Microsoft, you can turn off the App Diagnostics feature in Windows 11.

How to Completely Turn off App Diagnostic in Windows 11?

To turn off App Diagnostic permanently in Windows 11, do the following steps:-

Step 1. First, open the Settings app.

Step 2. Then select the Privacy & security from the left sidebar.

Step 3. After that, scroll a bit and then click App Diagnostics on the right sidebar.

Step 4. Finally, use the toggle switch beside “App diagnostic access” to enable or disable this feature.

How to Turn off App Diagnostic for a Specific App on Windows 11?

If you don’t want to turn off or disable app diagnostic on Windows 11 altogether, but you need to disable this feature for selective programs, complete the following steps:-

Step 1. First, open the Settings app.

Step 2. Then select the Privacy & security from the left sidebar.

Step 3. After that, scroll a bit and then click App Diagnostics on the right sidebar.

Step 4. Then, turn On the toggle switch beside “App diagnostic access” to enable this feature.

Step 5. Next, turn On the toggle switch beside the “Let apps access diagnostic info about your other apps” option. Then, click the down arrow button beside the toggle switch.

Step 6. Under that, you may find several apps that Microsoft wants to gather information. Turn Off the toggle switch next to the application name.

When you’re done with your selected application, Microsoft will not collect App Diagnostics data anymore.

How to Delete Diagnostic Data in Windows 11?

If you don’t want Microsoft to use the Diagnostic Data it collected beforehand, then you can delete it using the following guidelines:-

Step 1. First, open the Settings app.

Step 2. Then select the Privacy & security from the left sidebar.

Step 3. On the right sidebar, scroll down a bit to find Diagnostics & feedback, and then click on it to open its settings.

Step 4. Again scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the option Delete diagnostic data.

Step 5. Finally, click the Delete button under the “Delete diagnostic data” header.
