How to Restart Audio or Sound Drivers on Windows 11?

On a Windows machine, most of the issues occur because of device driver issues. If you are experiencing any such issues with your audio devices, you could try restarting the audio driver once. There is a high chance that your issue will be resolved by just doing that.

If you’re experiencing issues with your audio or sound drivers on Windows 11, restarting the drivers can often fix the problem. Here are the steps to follow:-

Step 1. First, press the Windows key + X to open the Quick Link menu.

Step 2. Next, select “Device Manager.”

Step 3. In the Device Manager window, locate the “Sound, video and game controllers” section and click on it to expand it.

Step 4. Now, right-click on your audio device (it could be labeled as “Realtek High Definition Audio,” “NVIDIA High Definition Audio,” etc.) and select “Uninstall device.”

Step 5. When the confirmation window appears, check the box next to “Delete the driver software for this device” and click “Uninstall.”

Step 6. Once the driver is uninstalled, click on the “Action” menu at the top of the Device Manager window and select “Scan for hardware changes.”

Windows will now detect your audio device and automatically reinstall the drivers.

Once the audio drivers are reinstalled, the sound should resume working normally. If the issue persists, you can try updating the drivers or explore additional troubleshooting steps.
