Some users have reported that Windows 11 suddenly no longer changes the Windows Spotlight Images, and fun facts no longer appear at all on the login screen. A few affected users reported that they previously had the issue on Windows 10 and thought upgrading to Windows 11 would solve the problem, but it didn’t.

After thoroughly investigating this issue, we’ve figured out that there are several different resolutions available to you if you’re currently dealing with this issue.

Fix: Spotlight not Working or Changing Pictures on Windows 11

If Spotlight is not working or changing pictures on your Windows 11 PC, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:-

Check your internet connection: Spotlight requires an active internet connection to work correctly. Ensure that your internet connection is stable and working.

Enable Spotlight: Make sure that Spotlight is enabled in Windows 11. To check this, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen, and select “Windows Spotlight” from the “Personalize your lock screen” drop-down menu.

Clear cache: Clearing the cache may also help to fix the issue. To do this, open File Explorer and navigate to the following location:-

 C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets

Here, select everything and delete it in this folder.

Disable Firewall: Temporarily disable the Windows Firewall or any third-party antivirus software blocking Spotlight from accessing the internet.

Update Windows: Ensure your Windows 11 PC has the latest updates and patches. To check for updates, go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Reset Spotlight: If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset Spotlight. To do this, open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following location:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen\Creative

Right-click the “Creative” key and select the “Delete” option. Then, restart your PC.

By following these steps, you can fix the Spotlight not working or changing pictures issue on Windows 11.
