How to Turn Off Print Screen Key on Windows 10?

The Print Screen key, also known as the “PrtScn” key, is a valuable feature that allows you to take screenshots of your desktop. However, if you find that the Print Screen key is getting in the way or you don’t use it at all, you can turn it off on Windows 10 by following these steps:-

Step 1. First, open Registry Editor.

Step 2. In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key:-

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout

Step 3. On the right sidebar, right-click on free space and select “New,” and then click “Binary Value.”

Step 4. Name the new binary value “Scancode Map.”

Step 5. Now, double-click on the “Scancode Map” value to open its properties.

Step 6. In the “Value data” field, enter the following hexadecimal value:-

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 37 E0 00 00 54 00 00 00 00 00

Step 7. Finally, click “OK” to save the changes.

Now, close the Registry Editor and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Once you’ve completed these steps, the Print Screen key will be disabled on your Windows 10 computer. If you want to enable the key again in the future, simply delete the “Scancode Map” value from the Registry Editor or change its value data to “00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00.”
