Windows can turn a laptop (or desktop) into a wireless hotspot that allows other devices to connect. With this inbuilt feature, Internet Connection Sharing, you can share your Internet connection with other connected devices.
Thanks to a hidden virtual Wi-Fi adapter available on Windows 10 that creates a Wi-Fi hotspot. Once you have an active internet connection on your computer/laptop, you can share your PC internet with other WiFi-enabled devices using the Mobile Hotspot inbuilt feature. How to turn your Windows 10 PC into a Wi-Fi Hotspot?
There are a few freeware that can enable your Windows 10 PC into a WiFi hotspot. If your Windows 10 PC runs an Anniversary update or later, there is no need for a third-party freeware tool to enable the WiFi hotspot feature on your machine. You can easily turn your Windows 10 PC into a Wi-Fi hotspot and share your PC internet connection with other WiFi-enabled devices. To turn on the WiFi hotspot feature on your Windows 10 PC/laptop, do the following:-
Step 1. Press Window logo + I hotkey to open the Settings app on Windows 10.
Step 2. Click on the “Network & Internet” category.
Step 3. On the left-hand side, on the “Network & Internet,” click “Mobile hotspot.”
Step 4. On the right-hand side, turn on the “Share my Internet connection with other devices” toggle switch.
Now, your Windows 10 machine will start broadcasting the SSID. Turn on the WiFi on your smartphone or any other device, and using the credentials, you can connect to the internet.
Step 5. If you want something other than the default network name and password, click the “Edit” button.
Step 6. The “Edit network info” page will open.
Step 7. Here, you can change the network name and password that other people use for your shared connection.
Step 8. Once you have entered the network name and password according to your choice, click on the Save button.
Note: Network password should have at least 8 characters.
On the Mobile Hotspot page, you can configure additional settings, Power saving.
Toggle On “Power saving” if you wish to automatically turn off the mobile hotspot when there are no devices are connected through your PC.
